Members of the Issele-Uku Development Union (IDU), Lagos Branch have attested to the fact that Chief Innocent Ikpeamanam Nwakpati (Omeogor of Issele-Uku) is a visionary leader, describing him as a man of the people.
In an opinion sampling survey ahead of IDU National election, to ascertain the capacity of Chief Nwakpati to superintend IDU as President General if elected, Anioma Trust interviewed a number of persons on the persona of the current President of IDU Lagos Branch, who has thrown his weight in the ring for the Number One position in the Union.
For want of space, we will reveal the honest opinion of two illustrious individuals within the leadership ranks of IDU in Lagos.
Pastor Chinweuba Isebor, General Overseer of the Kingdom Inheritance Christian Church, Lagos, said, Chief Nwakpati is like an open book, he has no secret and he presents everything in leadership as transparent as possible.
According to him, “Chief Innocent Nwakpati is a man of the people; he leads carrying everybody along. He is one person that can go to any length to make an association as interesting as anything – always reaching out to members and can use personal fund to drive leadership agenda that is beneficial to all”.
Additionally, Pastor Isebor said, Chief Nwakpati may not do everything himself, but that he knows how to surround himself with capable hands in achieving leadership mandate.
He further stated that Chief Nwakpati understands Issele-Uku more than most people who are resident at home as a result of his ability to relate widely while living an offence free life.
Also in his own opinion, a former Youth President in Lagos and currently the Treasurer of IDU, Mr. Ekene Egwuenu astutely defended Chief Omeogor as a man of capacity in all ramifications.
He said, Chief Omeogor is only temperamental for the good reasons and always moves on with his agenda for collective interest.
He adjudged him as a good man who knows how to get at the ball as a goal getter.
His words, “Chief Innocent Nwakpati knows how to pull crowd, because he makes things happen by creating activities for members to fraternize and have fun. He is always ready to serve; and so, if given the opportunity, he will turn things around for the overall benefit of Issele-Uku as a community”, Egwuenu submitted.
The current IDU under the able leadership of Mr. Offordile Ugeh as President General, has slated December 2025 for the IDU National Executive election, which will mark the expiration of his tenure. A lot of illustrious Issele-Uku indigenes have indicated interest to vie for the position of President General for which Chief Innocent Nwakpati is one. The ball now is in the court of all eligible and qualified indigenes of Issele-Uku to be at home on December 26th during the AGM to cast their votes for their preferred candidate.
